MTTR and MTBF Calculator

Turn failure records into reliability KPIs

Failure records pile up in a log, but without a consistent way to calculate MTTR, MTBF, availability and downtime, that data never becomes a usable KPI.

One-time purchase, no subscription. Works in Microsoft Excel or compatible spreadsheet software. Includes an example file, a PDF guide and a single-user license, with support by email.

MTTR and MTBF Calculator workbook opened to its main screen

The MTTR and MTBF Calculator is an Excel workbook that turns a failure log into MTTR, MTBF, availability and downtime KPIs, with a dashboard and failure analysis by mode, equipment and trend.

MTTR is calculated as total repair time divided by the number of failures with a recorded repair time. MTBF is calculated as total operating time divided by the number of failures with a recorded operating time. Availability is calculated as MTBF divided by the sum of MTBF and MTTR.

What is inside

  • Failure Log with up to 500 rows
  • Data quality check flags on the entered records
  • Dashboard with 3 charts
